Father's Day June 20th

For me, men have often been difficult to buy gifts for. When I ask my husband what he'd like, I get a standard answer: tools. Oh man o' man! He doesn't mean screwdrivers or hammers. He means big, burly, manly, machinery tools. Stuff I know NOTHING about. Can't do it.
So, I ask again and I get this answer: steak. Ok. I can do steak (but he's gotta grill it!). I'll set the table, make the salad and decorate.  Yay! Decorate. Bring out the manly decorations!!!!!
uh... wait a minute. Where are they?
oh. Here's one!
Your the best Dude! Love ya!

Reasons to Celebrate

I know there are more reasons to celebrate than we generally recognize. We go about our lives with to do lists and frustrations: I'm not getting enough done!! I'm busy, busy, busy! I need to do more. I need to do less. I need to meditate /get back to yoga /walk /take better care of myself /fix healthier meals /get more fiber / pay the bills / weed ... . I need to get better organized.
Aah. Suddenly all that busy-ness freezes and the joy of the moment pops through! Here's one of those moments: our girls dancing to Little Shop of Horrors  in the kiddies parade! Energy & Joy!

New Baby on it's Way!

Hurray! Our family has a new baby on the way!
My nephew and wife are expecting this September. We haven't had a baby in the family for 16 years (!), so we're pretty excited. On Mother's Day we pulled out a family crib and filled it with some sweet things for the new mom. I made a banner to string across the front that says HURRAY ! because that's what my heart says.
We know it's a boy, so the colors are the appropriate shades of blue. The little discs between the flags are cutouts from the couples wedding program. I love this little bit of 'them' that's part of the whole.

But hey! Any color combination for many different events fit the HURRAY! shout out:
  • The last day of school
  • A completed project
  • An engagement

What other events can you think of?

Party Favors are my new 'favorite'!

Party favors are so much fun. I've always loved them. One of my imaginary 'I'd love to do' jobs is a kid's birthday party hostess. I get jazzed to come up with a theme & ideas, decorate and make it happen! Makes my mind spin (in a good way)!

Through the years, I've had a great time with each of my daughter's birthday parties. We've done everything from a Hawaiian 'hula' theme (we had hoola hoops instead of hula dancing!) to actually filming our own version of a High School Musical 'movie'party!
Crazy and fun!
I've never been into store-bought theme favors. I like to create my own. So it really isn't all that surprising that I've recently REDISCOVERED this joy. A little bit recycled, a little bit vintage. The possibilities are endless!
